"The Double axe is a devastating weapon, this massive chopping damage comes at a price though, it is very heavy and thus slow to recover from strikes."[1]

Like other axes, the Double Axe deals swing/blunt damage which increases the weapon's versitility, particularly against Knights.

Blow for blow, this weapon is simply devastating. The Double Axe's overhead swing is capable of slaying lightly armored classes with relative ease and seriously hurting the heavy classes, making the overhead the preferred attack when entering combat. It only has below-average speed overall, but it's also one of the fastest 2 handed weapons in the game.

The biggest and most painful drawback is the weapon's extremely short reach, being one of the shortest 2 handed weapons in the game. This forces its user to become extremely close in order to get a hit in, and creates an compromising position for the double axe: it forces an innately slow class to try to close distances quickly. This  makes Double-Axe users vulnerable to longer weapons (particularly Polearms). That being said, if you can close the distance, you're generally at an advantage thanks to the high damage and tolerable speed.

Double Axe's overall speed also makes 1handed weapons have an advantage over the Double Axe since they have a good chance of causing interruption, but it also puts them within range of your devastating blows.

It's stab is fairly weak, as it has no edge on the top of the blade.
